Effective Date: April 2nd 2025
Welcome to Taste + Labels — a creative sanctuary rooted in culture, style, and self-expression. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data while you explore, comment, and vibe with us.
What is Taste + Labels?
Taste + Labels is a blog and lifestyle platform that shares reflections on identity, fashion, wellness, global living, and everything in between — especially from the lens of a creative Caribbean mind living with a foot in multiple worlds. Our website address is: https://tasteandlabels.com
Comments
When you leave a comment, we collect the data you enter into the form, plus your IP address and browser info to help prevent spam. We also create an anonymized string (called a hash) from your email, which may be checked by the Gravatar service to see if you’re using it. Their privacy policy is here: https://support.gravatar.com/privacy-and-security . After your comment is approved, your profile pic may be visible publicly beside your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the site, avoid using photos with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors may be able to extract that info.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies last for one year. Visiting the login page will set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies — it contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser. If you log in, we’ll set cookies to save your login info and display settings. Login cookies last two days; screen preferences last a year. Selecting “Remember Me” will keep you logged in for two weeks. Logging out clears those cookies. If you edit or publish a post, a cookie storing the post ID (not personal data) will be set and expire after one day.
Embedded Content
Some of our posts may include content from other sites — like videos, images, or articles. That content behaves as if you visited the other site directly. Those sites might collect data, use cookies, or track your interaction with the embedded content — especially if you’re logged in to their platform.
Newsletter & Analytics
If you sign up for our newsletter, your name and email are stored securely through our email service provider Mailchimp. We’ll only use it to share updates, fresh posts, or creative drops. You can unsubscribe at any time. We use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand our readers better — like what content you love most and how you found us. These tools may collect anonymized info like browser type, pages visited, and time spent on the site.
Who We Share Your Data With
We don’t sell or rent your data. If you request a password reset, your IP address may appear in the email. Otherwise, your info is never shared unless required by law or for essential website functions.
How Long We Keep Your Data
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely to make future conversations flow smoothly. If you register an account, your info is stored in your profile. You can see, edit, or delete your data anytime (except for your username). Admins can also manage that info.
Your Rights Over Your Data
If you’ve left a comment or created an account, you can request an exported file of the data we hold about you — or ask us to delete it. This excludes any data we’re required to keep for legal, administrative, or security reasons.
Where Your Data Is Sent
Visitor comments may be filtered through an automated spam detection service to keep this space welcoming and safe.
